Why Hire an Architect

Any expert will tell you that when working on a home or remodeling project, it’s effective to hire an architect over a building designer. But what is the difference exactly?

Architects VS Building Designers

Architects are licensed professionals that use their creative and technical training to design buildings, both their interior and exterior, and often supervise the construction. They differ from builders in that they do not provide drafting services or work with already-made designs. A building designer can hail from many different backgrounds, but they never register as an architect.

Architects find themselves in charge of designing many different types of structures which can include:

• Landscapes
• Houses
• Office Buildings
• Ships
• Skyscrapers
• Cities

The overall services that an architect will offer depend greatly on the type of project that is being carried out.

Ultimately, architects tend to have a better eye for detail than builders. They need to have a formal education and a degree in architecture from an accredited school, be registered as an architect, and hold that registration with the governing organization within their state. The pathway to being an architect typically involves about five or more years of university and two years of physical work, after which they sit for a rigorous licensing exam. When you hire an architect, you work with a passionate artist who has spent a good portion of their life refining their craft to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of their clients.
